<p>As a fundamental pillar of both the family and society, women perform vital and multidimensional roles. Their status has consistently attracted attention at familial, social, economic, and cultural levels. Within the family, a woman serves as a wife, life partner, central agent in the upbringing of future generations, and transmitter of culture; within society, she participates in economic development and decision-making processes. Drawing on Fairclough’s theory, this article examines the representation of women in Sistani proverbs and analyzes them within two categories: compulsion (3 proverbs) and ancestry/lineage (26 proverbs). The data were collected through a review of relevant books and interviews with local residents over the age of 50. The findings indicate that, within the category of compulsion, women are portrayed as patient individuals who submit to prevailing circumstances, whereas within the category of ancestry and lineage, they are foregrounded as guardians of family honor. Taken together, these two categories reveal the value system of the culture: acceptance of fate on the one hand and preservation of family structures on the other. Proverbs concerning compulsion emphasize individual adaptation, whereas those concerning ancestry/lineage stress collective stability. The article demonstrates how these proverbs reproduce gender stereotypes and reinforce mechanisms of social and familial control.</p>
